Financial Policy

Straightforward, transparent fees. No insurance contracts, no surprises.

Rasmussen Prosthodontics is a fee-for-service practice. We are not contracted with any dental insurance company. We believe this model lets us put the focus where it belongs: on the care, not on the contract.

What "fee-for-service" means

A fee-for-service practice sets its own fees based on the actual time, materials, lab work, and expertise each treatment requires. Because we are not contracted with any insurance network, our fees are not dictated or discounted by an insurance company. Patients pay our office directly for the care provided.

Working with your insurance

While we are not in-network with any insurance plan, that does not mean your insurance can't help cover part of your care. Most dental plans include some level of out-of-network benefit.

If you would like a claim submitted to your insurance, we are happy to file one as an out-of-network provider. The reimbursement is sent directly from the insurance company to you, not to our office.

What this looks like in practice:

  • You pay our office for your treatment at the time of service.
  • At your request, we submit a claim to your insurance on your behalf.
  • Your insurance company processes the claim and reimburses you directly for whatever portion they cover under your out-of-network benefits.

We are glad to help you understand the process, but coverage levels, deductibles, annual maximums, and exclusions are determined by your specific plan and are best confirmed directly with your insurance company.

Pre-treatment estimates

For larger cases, we provide a written treatment plan and fee estimate before any work begins. If you'd like to submit a pre-determination to your insurance to gauge what they may reimburse, we can prepare the documentation needed.

Payment options

We accept the following forms of payment:

  • Cash and personal check
  • All major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)
  • HSA and FSA cards for eligible services

Payment is due at the time services are rendered. For larger treatment plans, we are happy to discuss a payment schedule that works for you.

HSA and FSA accounts

Most prosthodontic treatments — including crowns, bridges, implant restorations, dentures, and full mouth reconstruction — are typically eligible expenses under Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). Cosmetic-only procedures may not be eligible. We recommend confirming eligibility with your plan administrator.

Why we chose this model

Insurance networks were built around general dentistry and routine procedures. Prosthodontic care — especially complex restorations, implant work, and full mouth reconstruction — rarely fits neatly inside those contracts. Operating outside any insurance network lets Dr. Rasmussen recommend the treatment that's right for your situation, choose materials and lab partners based on quality rather than network constraints, and dedicate the time each case actually requires.

Questions about a specific treatment?

The most accurate way to understand the cost of care is during a consultation, where Dr. Rasmussen can evaluate your specific situation and put together a treatment plan and estimate.
